Ooo and Ahhh

Another piece of good news vs bad news. Once again, if you’re the glass half full type of person, skip on down to the good news. But if you prefer to see the glass half empty (or the engineering way: the glass is twice as big as it needs to be), skip on down to the bad news first. The Good News
Life is full of good little supprises, and I got one of them a couple days ago. My family, who knew I was missing the Tex-Mex I have come to love so much, sent me a package full of spices. I’ve got everything I need to make… anything! Tacos, Fajitas, spicy pasta sauce 1, and Mexican-style salsa. Yummy!
The package was the second item I’ve received by mail down here in Argentina, and I have to throw out a big thanks to the mailers. It’s quite hard living thousands of miles away from all the smiling faces of my friends and family, but every time I receive a quick note from a friend, or a comment on my blog, or a package full of yummy spices (especially this one), it makes the distance seem much, much smaller. So, this is for all of you who have participated in the above activities… Thank you!!!
The Bad News
The world is full of bad news: Ike hit Houston, McCain is still campaigning, the public school system focuses too much on standardized test, etc. But one piece of bad news has hit me hard recently: my computer died.
That’s right… Mackenzie is dead. She has done much for me over the last two years, but on Saturday, September 13th, the hard drive stopped spinning. Fortunately, the hard-drive is still covered under warranty and will be fixed on my return to the US. Unfortunately, I will be waiting until my return to the US to fix the hard-drive; this does bring about some problems to a web-designer.
Nicole is being very kind and sharing her computer. We increased the partition size of Ubuntu (Linux made easy) and decreased the partition size of Windows (I’m slowly getting Nicole off of Windows… adding some pink highlighting to her Ubuntu theme helped more than I ever imagined possible), and now I’m all set up and ready to go! Yeeeehaaa!
If you skipped the good news, go and give it a quick read.
Conclusion
Life is still great… so enjoy it!
Footnotes
1 reminds me of the good ole days living at Sheridan, with Matt’s excessively hot pasta sauce and excessively large plasma TV

Sorry to hear about your computer :( Bummmmmmmer. But hey, you’re right — life is still good, especially with the awesome care package from your family. I miss you and hope you’re still having an awesome time in South America!
Hi Nicole/Spencer…..glad to see you are for Obama…Don’t let Sarah Palin fool you. We Alaskans are SHOCKED at everything she is taking credit for. Tom says ’she is a pig in lipstick"… She is a “self serving beauty queen wanna-be”.
Hope things are going alright. Take care and keep in touch. Hated to hear about IKE……what a mess. Talk to you soon…….LOVE DI
