First days in Argentina
written by Spencer Alexander on June 14, 2008 at 07:12PM in Traveling
We’ve had an eventful couple first days here in Argentina. It’s been an enjoyable time so far in South America. We’ll be here in Buenos Aires for another 5 days, and then we’re off to Mendoza!- Arrived 3 hours late due to mechanical problems.
- Took a 3 hour collectivo ride instead of a 30 minute taxi ride to save a bit of mula.
- Nicole’s inappropriatly packed bags almost murdered Spencer (and Spencer almost murdered Nicole and is still trying to find a way to forgive her).
- Found our hostel.
- Ate at a delicious cafe for under $3 each.
- Saw a few San Telmo sites, such as the Engineering School.
- Purchased a 3 dollar bottle of wine, although the 75 cent bottle sitting next to it was enticing.
- Enjoyed a bit of the wine while reading up on Argintine history.
- Bought tickets for a tango show (later we found a better deal… but oh well)
- Watched the tango show.
- Danced home, being newly inspired peoples.
- Slept. (finally!)
- Unsuccessfully browsed for apartments in Argentina.
- Took a collectivo (bus) to La Boca and had some lunch.
- Shopped around and watched some more impressive, cold weather tango.
- Bartered for a carrito (push cart) so that Spencer won’t have to kill Nicole and her unwieldy bags.
